When does acid indigestion occur?

Acid indigestion (heartburn) occurs after eating, lying down, or at night while you sleep.
Acid indigestion (heartburn) is an unpleasant burning sensation behind the breastbone, which usually occurs after meals, lying down, or at night while you sleep. It is usually caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), i.e. the increase of acidity in the esophagus, even though it is often confused with a heart problem.

Acid indigestion (heartburn) is an uncomfortable feeling of burning and warmth behind the breastbone, but sometimes in a higher zone, such as the neck.

Acid indigestion (heartburn) is usually caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), i.e. the increase of acidity in the esophagus. Acid indigestion (heartburn) and the resulting heartburn have nothing to do with the heart, though the discomfort of acid indigestion (heartburn) can be confused with heart pain and vice versa. Acid indigestion (heartburn) is a popular term to describe what in medicine is called heartburn.
